Winnow now works on Firefox for Android.

• Your feed loads on a phone. Earlier versions were offered to Firefox for Android but could not read YouTube there — YouTube sends phones to its mobile site, which Winnow can't parse. Winnow now asks for the regular page. Nothing changes on desktop.
• A layout that fits. Titles get room on a narrow screen, and the buttons are big enough to hit with a thumb.
• Everything else comes along: the inline player with resume, fullscreen (Back leaves fullscreen and keeps your place), transcripts, Go deeper, profiles, and the opt-in watch-history setting all behave as they do on desktop. Tap a video and it plays; nothing plays after it.
• Fixed: the toolbar button logged an error on Android every time it refocused an open Winnow tab.
• Sturdier scoring on a phone. If Android closes the browser mid-scoring, Winnow keeps what it had already worked out instead of paying for it again.
• Fixed, everywhere: an occasional "Could not find ytInitialData" warning. YouTube delivers a page's data in a second form to a small share of visitors; Winnow now reads both.

On Android, open Winnow from the ⋮ menu → Extensions. You need to be signed in to youtube.com in Firefox itself — the YouTube app's sign-in doesn't count.

Watch history, if you want it.

• Opt-in account writes. A new setting, off by default, under Settings → YouTube account. Leave it off and Winnow behaves exactly as before: it reads your feeds and changes nothing on your account.
• Plays can count toward your watch history. With the setting on, a video you watch in Winnow for at least 30 seconds (or half of a shorter one) is added to your YouTube watch history, so what you watch here shapes your recommendations the same way watching on youtube.com does. A quick look that you bail out of is never recorded.
• Signed-in player. With the setting on, videos play in YouTube's regular signed-in player instead of the privacy-enhanced one. This also fixes player error 153 for some signed-in users.

Permissions are unchanged from the previously listed versions: no new permission is requested, and cookies is still not among them.


Better filtering, and a calmer way to watch.

• Two-phase scoring is now the default engine. Each video is first digested from its transcript, then ranked against your profile by a fixed rubric instead of a free-form model score — steadier rankings, far cheaper re-ranks, and reasons that name the part of your profile they came from.
• Cut-score ranking. Clickbait and overclaiming titles are capped behind the fold rather than merely demoted, and a video that matches none of your stated topics can no longer float into Top picks on style alone. Nothing is deleted; everything winnowed stays visible with its reason.
• Multiple profiles. Work, leisure, a hobby — switch the whole feed between them in one click, each with its own scores and votes.
• Go deeper. A button that turns your profile into YouTube searches and vets the results, so you can find creators beyond your subscriptions. Runs only when pressed; creators you already follow are marked.
• Inline player with resume. Videos open in place instead of on a separate page, and pick up where you left off. Still nothing autoplays after them.
