Privacy policy for Windows Spotlight Sync

Windows Spotlight Sync — Privacy Policy
Windows Spotlight Sync does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to
the developer or to any third party. There is no analytics, no telemetry, and no
account.
WHAT STAYS ON YOUR DEVICE
• The current and historical wallpaper images, read from your local Windows
Spotlight cache by a native helper you install separately, and cached by the
extension in local browser storage (storage.local).
• Your extension settings and your custom shortcuts. These are also written to
Firefox Sync storage (storage.sync) so they survive an extension update or
reinstall. Firefox Sync data is handled by Firefox under Mozilla's own
privacy policy and is end-to-end encrypted; the developer has no access to it.
• The shortcuts grid reads your Top Sites through the Firefox "topSites" API.
This data is not sent anywhere.
NETWORK ACTIVITY
The extension has no host permissions and makes no requests to any server
operated by the developer. The only outbound network requests the New Tab page
can make are standard <img> loads of a favicon (for example
https://example.com/favicon.ico, or an icon URL you type) for a custom shortcut
you add yourself. Those requests go directly to the site you chose.
NATIVE MESSAGING
The extension communicates with a local native helper (a Windows PowerShell
script you install from the project's GitHub page) over Firefox native
messaging. The helper only reads local image files and the Windows wallpaper
registry value, and returns image data to the extension on your machine. It
opens no network connections.
CHANGES
Any change to this policy will be published with a new version of the add-on.
