About this extension
Watson Page Assistant extracts the main content of the current tab and lets you chat with an AI model about it, in the Firefox sidebar or in a separate popup window.
How to use
1. Click the toolbar button to open the settings, add a provider with your API key, and pick a model.
2. Press Ctrl+Y to open the assistant in the sidebar.
3. The page is extracted with Mozilla's Readability and, by default, summarized right away. Ask follow-up questions in the chat box.
Features
- Works with any OpenAI-compatible Chat Completions API, with presets for OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, Grok, Groq, Cerebras, Mistral AI, OpenRouter, Perplexity, and a local llama.cpp server.
- Prompt profiles, each with optional auto-submit, assignable to up to 4 keyboard shortcut slots.
- Reasoning effort selection for models that support it.
- Streaming answers rendered as Markdown.
- Sidebar or popup window mode. In popup mode, each source tab keeps its own conversation.
- Light, dark, or system theme, and adjustable font size.
Privacy
Watson Page Assistant has no server of its own and does not collect analytics. The page title, URL, extracted text, and your messages are sent only to the AI provider you configure, and only when a prompt is submitted, either by you or by a profile with auto-submit enabled. Settings and API keys are stored locally in your browser.
