About this extension
The Society of Impossible Geography has reopened the western archive. Take the lantern, find the survey bell, and return with a map before the flame disappears.
The Cartographer's Lantern is a quiet first-person exploration game about navigation, memory, and incomplete information. Its maze is generated anew for every atlas leaf. Walking reveals nearby passages on a hand-drawn field map, while limited lamp oil turns every detour into a meaningful decision.
Place chalk marks in the world, consult the atlas, locate the distant survey bell, and retrace your path to the entrance. The warm light, paper interface, restrained typography, and slowly emerging chart create a contemplative alternative to conventional maze combat.
Features:
- Procedurally generated first-person labyrinths
- Visibility-driven mapping system
- Limited lantern oil and route-planning pressure
- Player-placed chalk landmarks
- Hand-drawn atlas overlay
- Persistent atlas-leaf progression stored locally
- Fully offline play with no accounts, tracking, advertising, or external requests
Controls: WASD to walk, arrow keys to look, Tab to open the atlas, and C to place chalk.
