1. Overview
   TaoScale ("the Extension") is a browser extension that converts units, currencies, colors, and dates. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy describes what data the Extension collects, how it is used, and how it is stored.
2. Data We Collect
   The Extension collects no personally identifiable information.

User preferences (e.g., theme, decimal precision, custom unit pairs) are stored locally in your browser using chrome.storage.local and are never transmitted to any server.
Currency exchange rates are fetched once daily from a cached proxy endpoint and stored locally. No user data is sent during this request.
Selected text that you choose to convert is processed entirely on-device and is never transmitted externally.
3. Permissions Explained
storage – Saves your preferences locally in your browser.
alarms – Schedules the once-daily currency rate refresh.
tabs – Allows the extension to seamlessly read selected text on the active tab for conversion.
commands – Enables customizable keyboard shortcuts.
host_permissions (:///*) – Required to allow the background service worker to perform cross-origin network requests (fetch) to our remote API endpoint to retrieve daily currency exchange rate updates.
4. Third-Party Services
Currency rates are sourced from ExchangeRate-API via a caching proxy. No personal data is sent to this service.
