Privacy policy for Swoop - Tab Switcher & Tab History
Swoop - Tab Switcher & Tab History by Maxime
Swoop has no server of its own and no account, and collects, transmits, sells and shares nothing.
WHAT SWOOP RECORDS, AND WHERE
Everything Swoop records stays in your own browser's storage.
- Your tab history: title, address and opening or closing time of tabs, erased automatically once 30 days old. How many days you actually get back also depends on the room your browser leaves us: 30 days is what we never exceed, not a duration we promise you. You can export it yourself as HTML or JSON, stop the recording in the settings, and erase all of it with one button.
- The slots you set (the pages, sites, groups or folders placed on the numbers 1 to 8) and their names. A copy without the pictures is also written to your browser's synced storage, so your wheel comes back on a new profile or a new computer. It therefore travels through your browser's own sync account, under its own policy, and never through us; with no account signed in, it never leaves the machine. It is read back only when your wheel is empty, so it never replaces a wheel in use. You can also save your wheel to a file and restore it from a file, in the settings.
- Your settings: which triggers open the wheel, and whether the history is recorded.
- The recent-use order of your tabs and the names of your groups, kept for the browser session only.
- Your Pro status, cached locally.
PRIVATE BROWSING
Tabs from a private window are never recorded: they do not enter the history, even if you allow Swoop in private browsing. They do not appear in another window's wheel or its search either.
THE CONTENT OF THE PAGES YOU VISIT
Swoop draws its wheel on top of the page so it can open everywhere, including full screen and inside a frame. It does not read or change the content of your pages, fills in no form, intercepts no keystroke and listens to no network traffic. What it uses from a tab is its title, its address and its icon, to show them on the slices of the wheel and in the history.
PAYMENTS
The one-time Pro purchase is handled by ExtensionPay (https://extensionpay.com), a third party that uses Stripe to process the payment. When you choose to buy or restore Pro, you interact with ExtensionPay's pages. ExtensionPay processes your email address to manage your licence, under its own privacy policy (https://extensionpay.com/privacy). We never see your payment details.
