About this extension
suravidl watches the pages you are on, finds the video or audio playing there, and hands the one you pick to the suravidl engine running on your own machine.
There is no suravidl service. The engine is a small self-hosted app (desktop app, pip package or Android app — all free and open source) that does the actual downloading with yt-dlp: 1000+ supported sites, playlists, audio-only, subtitles, quality selection, a queue, and a history you can retry or delete.
How to use it:
1. Install and start the suravidl engine on your computer. It listens on http://127.0.0.1:8787 and prints an access token.
2. Paste that token into this extension's options page (the engine address too, if you changed it).
3. Play a video, click the toolbar icon, and pick it from the list. streams the page keeps hidden behind a JavaScript player are found too — including ones with no file extension, on another host.
What it does not do: DRM. Widevine, FairPlay and Netflix-style encrypted streams are detected and reported as such, and never downloaded. That is a deliberate limit, not an oversight.
Privacy: the extension talks only to the engine address you configure. No analytics, no accounts, nothing sent to the project or anyone else.
