Will an AI answer quote your page?

Ask ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google's AI a question and you get a paragraph, not ten blue links. That paragraph is built out of a handful of pages, and it credits them. Generative engine optimization, or GEO, is the work of making your page one of the pages it can use. It is not the same job as ranking. An answer engine is looking for a page it can lift one clear, checkable sentence from and
attribute to somebody.

WHAT YOU GET, IN ONE CLICK

Open any article and click the icon. There is no account, no sign-in and nothing to configure.

• A score out of 100 and a grade from A+ to F, from the same scoring engine the SEOBetter plugin runs inside WordPress.
• Six headline bars: citations, statistics, quotes, direct answers, structure and freshness.
• Fourteen checks, each on its own line in plain English: readability, key takeaways up top, section openings, context independence, facts and statistics, citations, expert quotes, tables, lists, freshness signal, named entities, keyword placement, human voice, and experience and expertise. • "What to fix first": up to three of the weakest areas, worded as what to do about them rather than as a score.
• A "Copy the fix list" button, so the findings go straight into a brief or a ticket.

WHICH AI CRAWLERS THE SITE SHUTS OUT

Plenty of sites block the crawlers that feed AI answers without anyone meaning to. The popup reads the site's own robots.txt and tells you in one sentence which of eight AI crawlers are blocked, among them the ones behind ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google's AI answers, Common Crawl, Apple and ByteDance. It also tells you whether the site publishes an llms.txt file. And if the page itself carries a "noindex" instruction, that is the first line you see, because nothing else on the screen matters while it stands.

WHAT SCHEMA THE PAGE PUBLISHES

A schema X-ray lists the JSON-LD types the page already has, and the ones that matter for being quoted and are missing: Article, FAQPage, Person, a dateModified, and HowTo when the page reads like a how-to.

WHERE THE FIXING HAPPENS

This extension scores and explains. It never changes a page, and it never touches a page you are not looking at.

The fixes are the job of SEOBetter for WordPress, which is free on WordPress.org. So the popup ends with one button, and which button depends on the site you are on: the free plugin if the site runs WordPress without it, a short page about moving to WordPress if it does not, and nothing to press at all if SEOBetter is already installed there. The move-to-WordPress page links to a hosting company through an affiliate link, labelled as one on the page itself. Nothing is ever injected into a page you visit.

ANY SITE, NOT JUST WORDPRESS

The scorer works on any article on any platform: Shopify, Webflow, Ghost, a hand-written HTML page, a competitor's blog. Score a rival's post and read the bars to see what they are doing that you are not. WordPress only decides which button you get at the end.

IT RUNS IN YOUR BROWSER

The score is calculated inside the popup, on your machine. The text of the page is never sent anywhere. To answer the crawler question, and to know which button to show you at the end, the reader asks the site you are on for four of its own files: robots.txt, llms.txt and two WordPress paths. Those requests go to that site, without cookies, and never to us.

On first run you get one screen with two buttons. "Score without sharing" means nothing ever reaches us: you get the same score, the same checks and the same fixes, and no events, no page addresses and no email box. "Allow and score this page" raises Firefox's own data collection prompt, and only if you accept that as well does the extension tell us which pages were scored and what they scored, tied to a random id, so we can send you a report if you ask for one. You can change that answer at any time from "Privacy and data" at the bottom of the popup, and turning it off takes effect immediately.

The extension asks for three permissions and no more: activeTab (read the page you clicked on, for that click only), scripting (run the reader inside that page) and storage (remember your answer and your install id). It holds no permission to read any site you have not clicked on. There is no remote code, no third-party analytics and no advertising, and the fonts are in the package rather than fetched from anywhere.

IF YOU WANT THE REPORT BY EMAIL

After a score you can type an address and have that one report sent to you. It is optional, it is skippable, it is only offered if you allowed sharing, and the score never depends on it.

A NOTE ON OTHER LANGUAGES

Several checks read English text only, so a page in another language scores lower than it deserves, and the popup says so on the page itself rather than leaving you to guess. Full support for other languages is in SEOBetter Pro.
