Search & Run Test by Denys Zatkhei
Select a test name on Jira or Confluence, search your configured GitHub repos for its definition, and dispatch the matching GitHub Actions workflow — without leaving the page. Sign in with GitHub Device Flow; no token to paste.
Extension Metadata
About this extension
Run your pytest suites from the page where the test name lives.
Select a test function name on a Jira or Confluence page, right-click, and choose
"Search & Run Test". The extension searches every GitHub repository you have
configured — in parallel — for the test definition, builds the pytest node ID
(relative/path.py::test_name[param]) from the matching file, and lets you dispatch
the repository's GitHub Actions workflow with the inputs that workflow expects.
GitHub returns a direct link to the run.
FEATURES
• Right-click any selected test name, or type one into the toolbar popup
• Parallel code search across multiple repositories
• Every matching "def test_*" in the file is listed, so shared prefixes are easy
to tell apart, and [parametrised] suffixes are preserved
• Per-repository workflow inputs you define yourself: text, number, checkbox or
dropdown, with one marked as the test-path target and auto-filled
• Sign-in with GitHub OAuth Device Flow — no personal access token to paste and
no client secret stored
• Import and export your repository configuration as JSON
SETUP
You register your own GitHub OAuth App (one click, no secret required) and add
its client ID in Options, then add the repositories you want to search. Full
instructions are in the README.
PRIVACY
No backend, no analytics, no telemetry. The extension talks only to GitHub, with
credentials you supply, and only when you ask it to. Open source under the MIT
licence.
