Retrace History answers that in one click. It shows the full chain of pages that led to your current tab: Every step backward to the very first page, even across tabs. Opened this tab from a link three tabs ago? The trail follows.

• One-click trail: click the toolbar button to see your path, newest to oldest, ending at "Start".
• Cross-tab trails: the trail continues into the tab you opened the current one from.
• Jump back: click any entry to reopen it in your current tab.
• Clean trails: back/forward moves along the trail instead of duplicating it, and reloads don't add entries.
• Private by design: private windows are never recorded, and everything is stored locally on your device: no accounts, no servers, nothing leaves your computer.

Note: Firefox doesn't let extensions observe its own internal pages (like Settings or the Add-ons Manager), so those won't appear in trails.
