About this extension
You need to share a screenshot of your CRM, your inbox, an invoice or a dashboard. It is full of customer names, email addresses, phone numbers, IBANs, card numbers and amounts. Today you open an image editor and spend five minutes dragging black rectangles.

Redact Anything does it in one click.
  • Redact all — finds and blacks out emails, phone numbers, IBANs, card numbers, @handles and money amounts anywhere on the page.
  • Names — a second pass for first name + surname in table cells, cards and list rows, including names split by markup and hyphenated or accented names. It deliberately leaves running prose alone, so headings and article text are not blacked out by mistake.
  • Images — blurs every picture and video at once.
  • Marker — drag to black out anything the patterns miss.
  • Export PNG — saves a flattened PNG with the redactions baked in.
  • Undo — restores the page exactly as it was.

Shortcut: Alt+Shift+R.

Why it is safer than a blur

Most tools lay a blur or a black box on top of the text. The text is still underneath: anyone can open the inspector and read it. In Bars mode, Redact Anything replaces the characters with solid blocks, and the original text is not kept anywhere in the page — not in the visible text, not in an attribute, not in "Save page as". The Marker draws a box over anything the patterns miss, and Export PNG bakes everything into a flat image. (Blur mode is for looks only: there, the text stays in the page, blurred.)

Privacy

Redact Anything makes no network request of any kind. It has no server and no account. It collects, stores and transmits nothing. It asks for three permissions: activeTab (only the tab you clicked on), scripting (to run on that tab) and storage (to remember whether you prefer bars or blur). It cannot read a page until you click the icon.

Free.
