Ratanak Youtube Downloader lets you download the current YouTube video as MP4 video or MP3 audio through a simple Firefox toolbar popup.

IMPORTANT: This extension requires a separately installed Windows helper, Python, FFmpeg, and Deno. Installing the extension alone is not sufficient.

Features
• Download MP4 videos at up to 720p, 1080p, or the best available quality.
• Extract audio as MP3.
• Save files using the original video title, without an appended video ID.
• View download progress in the popup.
• Close the popup while a download continues.

Setup
1. Download and extract the Windows helper package:

1. Follow the included README to install the prerequisites and run the helper installer.
2. Restart Firefox.
3. Open a YouTube video, click the extension icon, choose a format, and click Download.

Downloads are saved in your Windows user folder under Downloads\YouTube.

Requirements and limitations
• Windows 11 and Firefox 142 or newer.
• Python 3.10+, FFmpeg/ffprobe, and Deno.
• One download at a time; keep Firefox open until it finishes.
• Login-required or restricted videos may not be supported.
• Available quality depends on the video.

Privacy
The selected video URL and format are sent to the local helper only when you request a download. The helper contacts YouTube and its media servers directly. There is no developer-operated download service, analytics, or telemetry. The extension does not read browser cookies, passwords, or browsing history.
