Fixed
- Markdown files that begin with an HTML comment used to render as one collapsed run of
text, with the markdown markers visible. They now render normally, headings and
paragraphs included.
- Inline math no longer swallows currency or ordinary prose. A paragraph holding a single
dollar sign keeps all of its text, while a real formula between dollar signs still renders.

Changed
- No Markdown page is left silently unrendered. If the viewer cannot render a file it now
says so with a visible banner, instead of leaving the browser's own, collapsed, rendering
in place.
- A degraded render can no longer stay in the cache, so a slow first load of a large file no
longer makes every later load show the degraded version.

Fixes

• Two unrelated tildes in the same line are no longer read as strikethrough. A line such as "a (~2.5 %) b (~5-7 %)" now renders exactly as written, while a doubled "~~pair~~" still strikes through, matching GitHub. One consequence to know: a single-tilde pair written as "~p.12~" no longer strikes either.
• The options page footer now shows the correct render-cache version.

Changes

• The add-on now requests fewer permissions: "activeTab" and "contextMenus" were unused and have been removed, so the install and update prompts show a shorter list. Nothing else about the add-on's behaviour changes.
• "unlimitedStorage" is kept: the render cache is bounded to 100 entries or 8 MB.

What's new in 1.2.4

Rendering a local Markdown file depends on one Firefox setting — and if it was off, the extension used to fail without a word. This release makes that impossible to miss, and clears up a few rendering problems.

Guided setup
- A setup page now opens once, the first time you install the extension. It walks you through enabling "Access local files on your computer" and checks the grant live, switching to "all set" as soon as it lands. It won't reopen on updates.

No more silent failure
- If file access is off, the toolbar icon now shows a ! badge and names the fix in its tooltip, and the popup displays a banner with the exact steps plus a button that opens the right settings page. Firefox offers no API to grant this access for you, so the extension guides you instead of guessing.
- Cold starts no longer get stuck on "Rendering…". The watchdog meant to catch a stalled render was itself blocking the render it was supposed to protect.
- The right-click menu no longer throws an "already exists" error after a reload or an update.
- Math fonts (KaTeX) now load correctly on local files.

The signed package no longer ships the local demo profile (_webext-profile) or the unused offline-build files (vendor/marked.min.js, vendor/purify.min.js, vendor/SHA256SUMS) — it now contains only the files the add-on actually loads at runtime.
