Orbit processes browsing history, page content, and keyboard interactions locally to provide its features. It stores launchpad settings, scratchpad text, page-color preferences, and cached weather in the browser’s local storage. Orbit does not send browsing history, page content, or background keystrokes to the developer.
When the new-tab weather widget refreshes, Orbit contacts IPWho to obtain an approximate location from the network request. It then sends the resulting latitude and longitude to Open-Meteo to retrieve current weather. Those services also receive the network requests needed to provide their responses. Orbit does not request precise device location or operate a developer-run analytics server. Data stored locally remains until the user clears browser data or removes the add-on; third-party handling of weather requests is subject to those providers’ policies.
