Version 1.0.3
Released Aug 8, 2026 - 24.45 KBWorks with firefox 109.0 and later- Audio went silent when boosting above 100%. Any level over 100% routed the
media element through the Web Audio API, which browsers refuse to do for media
served cross-origin without CORS — they output silence instead. Because
createMediaElementSource()doesn't throw in that case, nothing caught it, and
because an element can never be un-routed from an audio graph, the tab stayed
silent until reload. The extension now checks that media is safe to route before
touching Web Audio, and leaves everything else on native playback.
Introduced in v1.0.2. Affected Firefox and, less visibly, Chrome.
On sites that serve media cross-origin without CORS headers, the slider still
attenuates from 0–100% but will not amplify past 100%. This is a browser
restriction, not something the extension can work around: the browser declines to
hand that audio to the Web Audio API at all.
- Playwright regression tests (
npm test) that exercise the injected volume logic
in real Firefox.
