Can I watch BBC iPlayer abroad?
Not officially. BBC iPlayer, ITVX, Channel 4, Channel 5 and NOW only play in the UK. With LivingAbroad they play in Firefox wherever you are, whether that's Ireland, the USA, Canada, Spain or Australia. US services work the same way outside the US.

How it works

Add the extension and sign in to your LivingAbroad account.
Open a supported service. The extension switches it to its home country as the page loads.
Watch. There's no server list to pick and nothing to configure.

You watch with your own account on each service. We handle the connection, not the subscription.

Why not just use a VPN?
A VPN is built to hide you, and streaming services are built to catch people hiding, which is why VPNs get blocked so often. LivingAbroad switches the country for the services on our list and leaves everything else alone, so your email, banking and work tools connect as normal. A VPN is still the right tool for privacy, encryption and public wifi. LivingAbroad isn't privacy software.

One subscription covers every device in your household, with no device limit: apps for Apple TV, Android TV and Fire TV, a setup guide for other TVs and games consoles (which can't run VPN apps), and apps for iPhone, Android and Mac.

When a service stops working
Broadcasters change their checks from time to time. When one blocks a route, our engineer fixes it by hand: so far always within 2 hours of the first report, usually under 1. It's one person, not a 24-hour rota, so a report made overnight or at the weekend may wait until morning. We've run LivingAbroad since 2022.

Price
7 days free, no card needed. After that, $2.99 to $4.99 a month depending on how often you pay (US dollars, VAT included). The add-on is free to install; watching needs a subscription once the trial ends. See the plans at livingabroad.tv.

Good to know

You need your own account with each service, and a paid subscription where the service charges for one.
The add-on only acts on the supported services. It doesn't read or route the rest of your browsing, and it doesn't sell your data.
