HostLens shows the IP address of the server behind the page you are viewing, in a small, unobtrusive badge in the corner. As soon as a page loads you know which server you reached, whether a CDN sits in front of it and, optionally, which technologies the site is built with.

Built for developers, agencies and sysadmins juggling servers, migrations and DNS changes: confirm a site already resolves to the new server, see whether traffic goes through a CDN, check which CMS and PHP version a shop runs — without opening DevTools or leaving the page.

WHAT IT DOES

• The server IP on every page, in the corner you choose.
• The badge moves out of the way by itself when you hover it, so it never covers anything. Hold Ctrl and it stays; Ctrl + click copies the IP.
• CDN detected from the response headers (the fifteen most common providers are recognised), with the edge node that served the page and the cache status.
• Server, X-Powered-By and HTTP status of the page.
• Optional tech stack detection: CMS and e-commerce platforms, backend, web server, frontend frameworks, libraries, analytics and third-party services, with the version when the site exposes it.
• Enable or disable it per domain (searchable manager) or on every site at once with Alt + Shift + I.
• Position, hover behaviour, opacity, show the domain or the CDN on the badge.
• Automatic dark mode. Interface in English and Spanish.

HOW IT WORKS (AND WHY IT IS FAST)

HostLens makes no additional network requests: it reads the IP and the headers Firefox already has for the page you loaded. No external services, no DNS lookups, no geolocation. That is why it never slows down browsing and leaves no trace on the servers you visit.

Tech detection is off by default. When you turn it on, Firefox asks for the permission to read the page, and the analysis runs only when you open the panel, not on every load. Optionally it can use the site's cookie names (never their values) to refine backend detection.

PRIVACY

Nothing leaves your browser. The extension has no server, collects no statistics and needs no account. The IP and headers live in Firefox session memory and are deleted when you close the tab. Your settings are stored in your Firefox profile. Privacy policy: https://bkmodules.com/hostlens-privacy

GOOD TO KNOW

• The IP is the one of the server Firefox connects to. Behind a CDN, a proxy or a VPN you will see that intermediary's IP (the badge's tag tells you a CDN is in front).
• If a page is served from Firefox's cache, the IP of the last real connection is shown (the badge's dot turns yellow).
• Tech detection relies on public signals of the page and may not see everything.
