• Hindi only. Marathi answers have been removed, so every result is now Hindi and
the dictionary is twice as deep for the language it actually offers.
• Ordinary words now work. A new English-Hindi pack of 25,250 everyday entries
joins the existing ones, so verbs like "learn", "listen" and "go" are answered
instead of reporting no entry. Coverage of the 130 most frequent English words
goes from 114 to 129.
• Every entry now carries its part of speech, and most everyday entries include
an English example sentence, so a result reads like a dictionary rather than a
bare translation.
• The everyday sense is shown first. Results are now taken one from each
dictionary in turn, so a specialist sense no longer crowds out the ordinary
one.
• Clicking anywhere on the page closes the popup. It also closed with Esc and the
✕ button, but neither actually worked before.
• Keyboard shortcuts in the popup now work: A plays the pronunciation, C copies
the entry, Shift pins or releases it. They are ignored while you are typing in
a text field, and while Ctrl, Alt or Meta is held.
• Audio now works. Pronunciation plays through your system's Hindi voice; if none
is installed, the extension says so in the browser console and reads the
romanisation instead. On Windows: Settings > Time & language > Language &
region > add Hindi (India), then install its speech voice.
• Lookups now work inside embedded frames (video players, comment threads,
search widgets) by default, instead of only after turning that on in the
options.
• "No entry for X" replaces "No Hindi translation for X".Source code released under MIT License
