gecko-newtab by force

gecko-newtab replaces the default new tab page with a minimal start page built around the things you actually use: your favorite links, a search box, and an image or GIF of your choice. Its fully customizable, the built-in settings let you change the page to suit your setup.

Organize shortcuts into categories for quick access to your usual sites. Add, edit, delete, and drag categories or links into the order you want all from the settings panel. You can also hide individual categories, the search area, or the image whenever you want a cleaner layout.

Bangs support. Type a regular query, enter a URL, or use a bang to search a specific site directly, for example, !yt for YouTube or !gh for GitHub. Press / to jump to the search box from the new tab page.

Make it yours with a custom image or GIF, background and text colors, and a choice of fonts, including Departure Mono and Maple Mono. Your changes are saved in the browser’s local extension storage, so your layout is there when you open the next tab.
