FAZ Light — Privacy Policy

FAZ Light is a browser extension that compares, at the user's request, the price of a product viewed on a marketplace (Amazon, Cdiscount…) against offers found on Google Shopping, AliExpress, idealo and eBay. FAZ Light is an independent service. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of the marketplaces or comparison sites named above.

No data sent to a FAZ Light server
FAZ Light has no backend server, so it never sends any data to FAZ Light, whether in the background or during a search. The entire extension runs locally in your browser.

When a search happens
No search runs without an action from you:

clicking the "Search better prices" button in the FAZ Light bar; or

turning on the optional "Auto" switch (off by default), which then re-runs the search automatically on every new product page while it stays on.

What happens during a search
To compare prices, FAZ Light opens a visible browser tab to Google Shopping, AliExpress, idealo.fr, or eBay (and, for some idealo offers, directly to the merchant's own site: Cdiscount, Fnac, Darty, Rakuten...), using your normal browsing session and IP address, exactly as if you had visited that site yourself. The request sent to these sites contains only the title and brand of the product being viewed, needed to run the search.
These third-party sites apply their own privacy policy, independent of FAZ Light. FAZ Light does not receive or store any copy of what these sites return, beyond the temporary display in the extension's bar.

What stays on your device
FAZ Light stores locally (chrome.storage.local), only on your device, never transmitted anywhere:

fazLightAutoSearch — your preference for the "Auto" option.

What FAZ Light never collects
No name, email, postal address, or phone number.

No session identifier or advertising identifier.

No IP address collected by the extension itself.

No browsing history beyond the product page a search is run on.

No reading of browser cookies.

No third-party analytics or tracking code (no Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Sentry, etc.) bundled in the extension.

Retention and deletion
Uninstalling the extension immediately removes the locally stored preference. Since no data is sent to a FAZ Light server, there is nothing to delete server-side.

Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)
Since FAZ Light neither collects nor stores any data outside your device, there is no personal data on our side to access, correct, or delete. For any question, contact support@faz-light.com.
