Edmetry Focus privacy statement

Edmetry Focus does not collect your personal information. It has no analytics, telemetry, advertising services, account system or remote code.

What the extension uses

The extension stores your filter choices as boolean values in your browser’s local extension storage. These preferences stay in that browser profile and are not sent to browser sync or an external server.

On desktop www.youtube.com, the extension examines page elements locally to hide the sections you select. If you enable autoplay control, it reads and turns off YouTube’s next-video switch. The extension does not record page content, comments, search terms, watch history, video identifiers or account information.

Permissions

The storage permission saves your preferences. The scripting permission and host access restricted to https://www.youtube.com/* let the background script reconnect filtering in existing YouTube tabs after installation, reload or a saved setting change. It uses matching tab IDs transiently and does not save browsing history. No access to other websites is requested.

Network activity and third parties

The hidden-home-feed panel includes a search form. When you submit it, your browser sends the typed query directly to YouTube and opens its search results, just like YouTube’s own search. No query is stored by the extension or sent to an extension server. The background and filtering scripts make no network requests. YouTube’s own requests, cookies and account features are governed by YouTube’s policies. Visually hiding a section does not stop YouTube downloading its content.

The browser’s extension store and update services may process information under their own policies. That activity is separate from this extension’s code.

Your choices

Change the switches to update your stored preferences. Pause the extension to restore hidden content while retaining those preferences. Remove the extension and its stored data through your browser’s extension settings when you no longer want it.

Turning off the autoplay filter stops enforcement. If the filter switched YouTube’s own autoplay setting off, you can switch it back on in the YouTube player.

Changes

If a later release changes how the extension handles information, its privacy statement will be updated to describe that behaviour.
