Dead Air Cartographer is a stealth exploration game in which the map exists only where sound has reached. Footsteps reveal nearby stone a few cells at a time. A deliberate signal call reveals a much larger area, including distant walls, the survey lantern, and moving returns—but it also causes listening creatures to advance toward the player.

Three complete valley cuts use different wall structures and creature placements. The player has three breaths. Contact with a moving return consumes one breath and sends the player back to the cut entrance. Reaching the lantern completes the cut while leaving unexplored territory intentionally dark.

The visual field is rendered locally with Canvas using fading echoes, sparse phosphor lines, and temporary wave fronts. The system distinguishes known terrain from unseen terrain without using a conventional permanent minimap.
