Daisee — Read on my phone by Daisee Work
Title: Daisee Browser Extension — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 18 August 2026
The Daisee browser extension ("the extension") connects your computer to the Daisee app on your phone so web pages can be read aloud. This policy explains exactly what data the extension handles. It is deliberately short, because the extension deliberately handles very little.
Page text. When — and only when — you click the Daisee button (or press the keyboard shortcut), the extension extracts the readable text of the page you are viewing and sends it to Daisee's server, which delivers it to your paired phone. The text is deleted from the server as soon as your phone begins reading it, and in any case automatically within one hour. Page text is never logged and never used for any other purpose.
Page summary. If you press Page summary instead of Read this page, Daisee's server sends that same page text to Google Gemini, which writes a short spoken summary. Only the summary is passed on to your phone. Google processes the text to produce the summary and does not use it to train its models. This is the only feature that sends page text to an AI provider — Read this page, Point & read and Find on this page do not, and never have.
Web addresses. Only the website's domain name (for example, "bbc.co.uk") is sent with the text, so your phone can say where the page came from. The full address, which may contain personal details, is not stored.
Pairing credential. When you connect the extension to your phone with the 6-digit code, the extension stores a random device identifier and secret in your browser. This credential only links this browser to your own phone. You can remove it at any time with "Disconnect from my phone" in the extension, or by removing the computer in the Daisee app.
- It does not read any page automatically — only on your explicit click.
- It does not collect your browsing history.
- It does not use cookies, analytics, or trackers.
- It does not sell any data, ever.
- It does not share page text with anyone except the services named under "Data processors" below, and only to do the job you asked for.
- It does not require an account, email address, or any sign-in.
Page text is transmitted via Daisee's own server (hosted on DigitalOcean) and delivered through Google Firebase to your phone. Both act solely as delivery infrastructure; neither retains the text beyond the one-hour delivery window described above.
When you use Page summary, the page text is additionally sent to Google (the Gemini API) to produce the summary. Google is a processor for that request only: it returns the summary and does not use the text to train its models.
Uninstalling the extension, disconnecting it, or removing the computer from the Daisee app immediately stops all data flow. There is nothing to delete afterwards, because nothing is retained.
