Chronicler by ProfBM
Chronicler exports your AI chat conversations — Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT, DeepSeek and NotebookLM — to Markdown, HTML or Word with one click. Everything happens inside your browser; nothing is uploaded anywhere.
Extension Metadata
About this extension
Chronicler saves an AI chat conversation as a real document. Open a
conversation, click the toolbar button, pick a format, and the finished file
lands in your downloads folder. No copy-pasting, no screenshots, no account,
no server.
Supported sites
Claude, Google Gemini, ChatGPT, DeepSeek, and NotebookLM. The toolbar popup
detects which site you are on and offers the formats that site supports.
Export formats
📝 Markdown (.md) — a clean, portable text file with a table of contents,
one section per prompt, and LaTeX math preserved as-is. Ideal for Obsidian,
a Git repository, or any Markdown editor.
🌐 HTML — a single self-contained page that opens in any browser, with
math rendered by KaTeX and code blocks syntax-highlighted. No internet
connection needed to view it.
📄 Word (.docx) — a properly structured document: navigable headings,
a table of contents, real Word lists, tables, code blocks, and — the part
that matters for technical chats — LaTeX converted into native Word
equation objects, not left as raw
(position and wording configurable) and an optional page break before each
prompt.
Faithful to long conversations
Chat sites unmount older messages from the page as you scroll, so naive
scrapers silently lose most of a long conversation. Chronicler reads the
conversation from the site's own data instead, so a 200-message thread
exports completely.
What gets captured
Prompts and responses, tables, code blocks, inline and display math,
citations, attachment names, and — if you want them — tool calls, tool
results, and the assistant's thinking blocks. Each of these is a toggle on
the options page.
Options page
Choose which extras to include, how warning callouts are styled, where page
numbers go and how they are worded, and whether each prompt starts on a new
page.
Privacy
Chronicler collects nothing and transmits nothing. It has no analytics, no
telemetry, and no remote code. It reads only the AI chat sites listed above,
only when you ask it to export, and writes only to your own download folder.
The source code is public and identical to the reviewed package.
