Chobi - Screenshot & Full Page Capture by Devxhub
Chobi Privacy Policy
Last updated: 29 September 2026
Chobi does not collect, store, transmit or sell any user data. Every screenshot stays on your computer.
What the extension does
Chobi captures an image of the web page you are viewing: an area you select, a single element you point at, or the entire scrollable page. It then lets you annotate the image and save it to your computer.
Data we collect
None. There are no accounts, no analytics, no tracking pixels and no third-party services. We do not know who installs Chobi or what pages you capture.
Where your screenshots go
• Screenshots are created inside your browser and held in memory only while you are editing them.
• A full-page capture is stored temporarily in the browser's own local extension storage so it can be handed to the editor tab. It is deleted the moment the editor loads it.
• When you save, the file is written to your own Downloads folder. When you copy, it goes to your system clipboard.
• The share option either hands the image to your operating system's own share sheet or copies it so you can paste it into a message. In every case the image stays on your device unless you choose to send it yourself. Nothing is sent to any server by Chobi.
• Your last fifteen captures are kept in your browser's own database (IndexedDB) so you can reopen one from the Recent list. They stay on this computer, they are never sent anywhere, and Clear the list in that menu removes them straight away. Uninstalling the extension removes them too.
Settings we remember
Chobi stores two preferences locally: the file format you last chose when saving (PNG, JPG, WEBP, PDF or SVG), and the capture delay you picked in the popup (off, 3 or 5 seconds). Neither ever leaves your device, and both are removed if you uninstall the extension. The interface language is not a setting we store: Chobi simply follows the language your browser is already set to.
Permissions and why they are needed
• CctiveTab, to capture the tab you are on, only after you start a capture.
• Scripting, to draw the selection overlay and to scroll the page during a full-page capture.
• Storage and unlimitedStorage, to remember your chosen format and delay, to keep your last fifteen captures on this computer, and to hand a large capture to the editor tab.
• Downloads, to save the finished image to your Downloads folder.
• ContextMenus, to put the three capture modes on the right-click menu, and to let you take a picture on a page straight at its full size.
• Notifications, to tell you when Firefox does not allow a capture on the current page.
• Access to websites, so a capture works on whichever site you are on. The extension only reads the page when you start a capture.
Children
Chobi is a general-purpose tool and is not directed at children. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of Chobi ever handles data differently, this page will be updated before that version is released, and the change will be described in the extension's store listing.
