Butterly Home by dedashev02

Butter Home is the new tab page that goes with Butter, the ad and tracker blocker.

It is a separate small add-on for one reason: Firefox does not let an add-on switch its new tab page on and off. So the page lives here. Add Butter Home when you want it, remove it when you want Firefox's own new tab back. Butter keeps working either way.

On the page: a big quiet clock (bold, regular or light, 12 or 24 hour, seconds if you like), today's date, a greeting with your name, a search box that says "Search with Google or enter address" using whichever engine you pick (Google, DuckDuckGo, Bing, Brave, Startpage, Ecosia, Qwant, Mojeek, or the same as Firefox), and your shortcuts as clean letter tiles. Type a sum and the answer appears without searching.

Make it yours with the Customize panel right on the page: light or dark, 20 colour sets or your own colours, plain, soft or coloured background, square, soft or round corners.

Private: the page makes no network requests at all. No icons are downloaded, nothing is tracked, nothing leaves your computer.

Works best with Butter installed: all settings are shared and every change shows on the page right away. Works on its own too, with its own defaults.
