Asterex for Firefox connects to the Asterex app installed on your Mac. No Asterex account is required.

To unlock your vault, match websites, fill logins, save or update credentials, and access verification codes, the extension exchanges relevant data with the local Mac app through Firefox native messaging. This includes authentication information, the current page or frame URL, and selected login-form values.

The extension can display saved items and copy fields you explicitly select. Depending on your vault contents, these may include personal, financial, identity or health information, and notes containing personal communications. These permissions support your saved vault items; the extension does not scan websites for all these types of information or read your browser history, email, chats or clipboard.

The extension contains no advertising, analytics or telemetry service. Firefox connection verification does not transmit extension-version or installation-source diagnostics.

When website icons are enabled in Asterex, the Mac app may request icons directly from the relevant websites. Those websites receive normal network-request information, including your IP address. You can disable website icons in the Mac app.

The Mac app manages encrypted vault storage and any optional sync or backup services you enable. Those services are controlled separately through the Mac app’s settings.

Browser local storage is used for temporary encrypted pending-save data. Its encryption key is held only in memory. Private browsing is not supported.

You can manage site access in Firefox, lock your vault, disable the Firefox integration in Asterex, or disable or uninstall the extension. Uninstalling the extension does not delete your Mac app vault.
