About this extension

Article to PDF + APA Citation reads the page you're on, strips out the
nav bars/ads/sidebars, and turns just the article into a clean, properly
formatted PDF, with an APA-style citation already built in.

Why it's useful

Save research, course readings, or reference articles as portable,
properly cited PDFs. No print dialog, no manual citation formatting.
Everything happens on your device. There is no server, no account, no
tracking, see the privacy policy for details.

How it works

Click the toolbar icon on any article.
The extension pulls out the article text (using Mozilla's own
Readability library, the engine behind Firefox's Reader Mode) and
scans the page for author, site name, and publish date.
Review and edit the pre-filled Title / Author / Site / Date fields,
with a live preview of the APA citation as you type.
Click "Generate PDF." The file downloads immediately: title, citation
(with a clickable source link), then the full article, headings,
paragraphs, lists, quotes, and images, with page numbers.

Permissions, plainly

activeTab + scripting: only used to read the page you click the
icon on, and only after you click it. Nothing runs in the background,
and no other tabs are touched. This also covers fetching images for
embedding, run from inside the page itself rather than a separate
origin, so the request behaves like the browser's own normal image
loading.
No host permission is granted automatically. Some third-party image
hosts, equation and formula renderers used by learning-management
systems being a common example, serve images fine for normal display
but never send the headers a fetch request needs. Only when an article
references such a host does the extension ask Firefox, right when you
click Generate PDF, for permission to that one specific site, not
every site you visit. Firefox shows its own native prompt naming the
exact origin before granting anything.
downloads: only used to save the PDF you just generated to your
computer. Not used to read, list, or manage any other downloads.
