FireCaster by DjSenTex

FireCaster adds a floating cast button that lets you send the currently playing YouTube video to any TV or streaming device on your home network — no cables, no manual IP entry.

Supported devices: Chromecast / Google TV / Android TV, Amazon Fire TV Stick, Samsung, LG and other DIAL-capable TVs, and DLNA receivers. The button appears inside the YouTube player; pick a device and the video starts playing on the TV, with remote play/pause/seek controls available.

How it works: the add-on talks only to a small local helper (python) on your own computer (127.0.0.1) that discovers devices and controls them over your LAN. Nothing leaves your machine — no accounts, no servers, no telemetry.

SETUP: after installing the add-on you also need the local helper:

The helper listens on http://127.0.0.1:49314. Optional: run it as a systemd user service (see the README for the exact unit file). The TV and the computer must be on the same network.

This add-on was developed with the help of opencode, an open-source AI coding assistant. The source is fully open and, to the best of the author's knowledge, contains no backdoors or data collection — its only network access is the local helper and YouTube pages (to read the current video).
